Sequel to popular Battlefield 2 and ARMA 2 mod in development; will be free-to-play.
Project Reality, the popular Battlefield 2 and ARMA 2 mod, is getting a sequel in the form of a standalone free-to-play game.
According to the Project Reality team, the game is being developed using CryEngine3 and will be released as a free-to-play multiplayer FPS for the PC. The developer is aiming to create “the most realistic, immersive and demanding shooter within a virtual combat environment,” focusing on “encouraging teamwork through tactical gameplay.”
Development only began last year, so the launch is still a ways off. The Project Reality team is currently working on an alpha build, which will be ready for internal testing within the next two months.
The alpha build of the game will feature the Fools’ Road map, a “true to life representation” of the eastern part of Laskar Gar, Afghanistan and a basic training map for players to familiarize themselves with the game. There will be two factions initially, the British Armed Forces and a Rebel/Insurgent force, with the U.S. Army faction planned later down the line.
