You can play TERA for free starting next month.
TERA is going free-to-play in South Korea today and now the change is spreading to North America and Europe. TERA North American publisher En Masse and European publisher Gameforge announced that the game will go free-to-play in February.
But in a world where servers cost money to run, you have to wonder, “What’s the catch?” Well, here’s Gameforge’s offering and here’s En Masse’s offering. There are slight differences between the two, but in general we’ll see the addition of an in-game cash shop with costumes, mounts, and consumables for sale. New players will get unrestricted access to all game content, past subscribers will get Veteran status and those who continue to subscribe will get Elite status (or TERA Club membership in Europe).
