As part of Sony’s earnings report for the fiscal fourth quarter and full year ended March 31, the company announced it shipped 2.9 million units in the past three months. That’s up from 2.3 million during the same period last year.
For the full fiscal year (April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017), Sony shipped 20 million PS4 units, up from 17.7 million units during the prior fiscal year.
In total, Sony has now shipped 60 million PS4 consoles around the world, up from the 57.1 million figure that was announced in March. Sixty million is precisely the number that Sony forecasted it would ship by the end of the fiscal year.
Another key takeaway from the Sony earnings report today is that the company is forecasting PS4 shipments to amount to 18 million units for the current fiscal year. This would be down from the fiscal year that just ended. Sony didn’t say why it believes shipments will dip.
